  • In order to boost rural economy by utilising bio-resources, a National Mission on Bioeconomy has been launched from Shillong by the Institute of Bio-resources and Sustainable Development (IBSD) under the Ministry of Science and Technology
  • The Ministry of Finance after a series of meetings and discussions with different agencies including RBI have decided that sports infrastructure will be included under the Harmonized Master List of Infrastructure Subsectors.
  • Minister of Road Transport & Highways and Shipping Shri Nitin Gadkari has formally launched the Indian Bridge Management System (IBMS). IBMS is being developed to create an inventory of all bridges in the country and rate their structural condition so that timely repair and rehabilitation work can be carried out based on the criticality of the structure
  • Union Cabinet has approved the establishment and operation of anIndian Institute of Management (IIM) in Jammu at a cost of nearly Rs 62 crore
  • Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan inaugurated the National Seismic Programme (NSP) in Odisha to trace hydrocarbon resources like oil and natural gas in Mahanadi basin
  • UDAN – Regional Connectivity Scheme has been launched by The Ministry ofCivil Aviation aimed at linking small towns in the country with flights and develop the regional aviation market
  • The Environment Pollution Control Authority (EPCA), a Supreme Court-appointed pollution watchdog, has launched a mobile app ‘Hawa Badlo’, aimed at improving air quality with public participation

  • The Central Government has announced opening of at least one Krishi Vigyan Kendra in all districts of the country. This will provide advanced Agriculture technical assistance to the farmers near their farms itself
  • Union Government has launched Mining Surveillance System (MSS), a pan-India surveillance network to check illegal mining using latest satellite technology
  • The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, has launched National SC/ST hub, and the Zero Defect, Zero Effect (ZED) scheme for MSMEs
  • The Union Cabinet approved the establishment of a National Academic Depository (NAD) for safe deposit, retrieval and verification of the certificates of students within next three months with plans to roll out the facility in 2017-18
  • AYUSH Ministry will launch ‘Mission Madhumeha through Ayurveda’, which will be a protocol for treating diabetes through Ayurveda and will be implemented throughout the country

  • Infosys has launched Skava Commerce, an e-commerce platform for retailers
  • Dassault Aviation of France has entered into a partnership with Anil Ambani-led Reliance group to execute offsets for the recently concluded deal for 36 Rafale fighter jets. This is the largest offset contract to be executed by any defence company in India till date
  • Asian Development Bank (ADB) has extended a USD $200 million loan to India for installation of energy-efficient home and street lights, and water pumps, which can help the country to save energy to the tune of 3,800 gigawatt-hours per year
